I got out of there, rushed back to Enterprise in Sumter Landing, and, without a reservation, got a car and was on the road in 10 minutes.

I can't believe a corporation as large as Hertz would allow such incompetent people to run an outlet! Never trust The Villages Hertz, even if you have a reservation. I will be using Enterprise from now on.

On February 9, 2017 I rented a Hertz car online from The Villages Hertz Spanish Springs outlet, for February 13 at 7:30am, the time the office opens. I paid $40.20 on my credit card, with $8.21 to be paid at the counter. For those who know The Villages, I drove there in my golf cart from the Village of Duval, a 30 minute drive. I arrived at 7:30, only to be told that they had no cars available. When I mentioned that I made the reservation 5 days ago, paid for most of it, had to be in Tampa by 10:00am, all I got was sorry, no cars, can't help you, etc. This was said in such a calm, nonchalant way, that I am positive this situation had arisen many times before. Seeing that I was getting frustrated, I was told that I could sit and wait, as a car was "scheduled" to be returned at 9:00....unbelievable!! I asked that the $40.20 should be credited to my credit card, sorry, we can't do that, you'll have to call. Customer Service.

Kyle was great to work with. He helped me with an issue that they couldn't help me with by calling the corporate number! Very friendly staff all around.

Oh, and by the way, I contacted Hertz regarding my refund, got an email saying they would look into it, and 3 weeks later, nothing! Surpriiiissse!

I got a "cleaning/smoking" charge of $250 on a 3 day Versa rental out of Newark Airport that should have been $75. Being a nonsmoker with lung disease, I have NOT nor have ever smoked cigars or cigarettes. Hertz's bogus claim, which they can't back up, is just simple fraud. I suggest that EVERYONE who returns a Hertz rental has the receiving clerk sign off that you returned a spotless car. .........UPDATE.....30 minutes later a rep calls me back to tell me I will be refunded the entire bill. Evidently any charges you get that you aren't sure of,,,,,,,FIGHT, and let them know your complain will go viral..

Great staff, David was very polite and he had me on my way in no time at all. Even the friend I was with couldn't believe how quick the transaction was. Even easier when I dropped the car off!
